StoryNexus roadmap, Q1 2013

Happy New Year all!

Here’s what we expect to add to StoryNexus in the next three months: bit.ly/SNRoadmap . It’s an exercise in juggling what we need to do for client projects; what we have planned for Fallen London; and what creators have asked for. Feel free to ask more questions here, or take a look at the Suggestions thread on the forums, but please do avoid ‘wot no [favourite feature]?’ posts.

The big highlights are

SOCIAL ACTIONS. The availability of inter-player actions will be a fundamental shift in what can be built on SN… it makes sense of the platform living on the web, and it opens an awful lot of storytelling doors. I’ll be blogging a little more about this next week.

IMAGE UPLOADS. With some trepidation. But we need to do it! Especially for the next step…

CUSTOM TABS. We’ve found an elegant way of allowing some degree of UI customisation, while sticking to the basic qualities-and-storylets approach – so you’ll be able to build your own travel maps or quest journals.

FALLEN LONDON MIGRATION. FL is moving wholesale to the SN front-end – there’s too much good stuff in SN that we want to use when building FL content! This means that everything in FL will either be (a) possible in SN or (b) retired. Mostly (a).

  1. And I guess this fixes the issue with certain cards being impossible to discard, and impossible to use? (E.g. the Criminals/Constables card being impossible to remove without connected:50)

  2. (a) fixed, thanks! (b) I’m not sure what the ‘this’ means, but that card should alread be transient, which means it’ll drop out of your hand if you can’t play it. Let the support address know if not.

Comment (n.b. there's a moderation delay):
